Every fan should be able to follow their team. Texas Sports Marketing builds and maintains LubbockISDSports.com to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the same standard that applies to public-entity websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act — and we test against it as the site evolves.
What we’ve built in
- Keyboard access — every control on the site, including the audio player and its replay seek bar, works without a mouse, with a visible focus indicator and a skip-to-content link on every page.
- Screen reader support — meaningful labels on all controls, alternative text on images, a logical heading structure, and focus that moves to the new content when you navigate.
- Motion control — the home-page carousel has a pause button, and the site honors your device’s “reduce motion” setting throughout.
- Contrast and themes — text colors are chosen to meet WCAG contrast minimums in both the dark and light themes (toggle in the header).
- Replay transcripts — archived game broadcasts include an automatically generated text transcript on the game’s page, so you can read what happened instead of (or alongside) listening.
- No time pressure — nothing on the site requires a timed response, and no content flashes.
Known limitations
We’re transparent about where we’re still working:
- Live audio broadcasts are not captioned in real time. Live captioning of audio-only broadcasts goes beyond the WCAG AA standard, but we’re evaluating options as the service matures.
- Replay transcripts are machine-generated. They appear on each game’s page shortly after the broadcast, but names, numbers, and play calls may be transcribed imperfectly. If you need an accurate account of a broadcast, contact us and we’ll help.
- Third-party content — linked sites and embedded services like ticketing, schedules, and TV partners are built by other companies, and their accessibility is outside our direct control. We choose partners with accessibility in mind and will pass along any issues you report.
